As part of the renovation of an ITV station in Andalusia, a comprehensive noise control solution was implemented, including the construction of acoustic booths. The project was awarded to Iberacústica through a public tender.

The project includes the manufacture, supply, and installation of five acoustic booths for vehicle testing, including light vehicles, motorcycles, and medium-heavy vehicles.

The objective was to minimize the noise impact generated during the various tests the vehicles undergo, particularly during gas emissions tests. The booths, of various sizes, were constructed using sound-absorbing acoustic panels, meeting all the requirements defined in the Technical Specifications Document (PPT).

Technical execution and documentation compliance.

The project covered all phases: layout at the ITV station, delivery of the approved project, technical documentation, Health and Safety Plan, construction of the five acoustic booths, and final tests that validated their correct operation.

As-built drawings were also submitted, along with the required documentation in an open format for review.

With precise planning and no simultaneous work by other contractors, the installation was completed in a short timeframe and without interference.

Validation of insulation in acoustic booths at the ITV station: Noise measurement during the renovation phase

During the final phase of the project, after the booths and the warehouse enclosure were completed, we proceeded to perform acoustic measurements according to the specifications.

As the ITV station did not yet have inspection equipment, the noise could not be assessed under real-world conditions. The decision was made to use a pink noise source, located in the most unfavorable position within a booth, as indicated in the PPT.

A reference level of 80 dBA was set at a distance of 7.5 m, as planned. The booth selected for this test was the closest to the site boundary, which would allow for more representative results.

The measured levels confirm that the sound insulation provided by the booths meets the limits established by current municipal acoustic regulations.
